Meet the Team

Donna Hais

Donna was born and raised in Nanaimo.  She is currently a partner in her family owned construction/land development company.  She is currently serving as Chair of CVI Leadership Prayer Breakfast, Chair Vision 2020, Vice Chair Port of Nanaimo and is a Rotarian.  She is a Past President Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce and Past President Nanaimo Executive Association.  Donna is married to Robert and they have 4 adult children. 

Johann Van Rensburg

 Born in South Africa, Johann moved to Nanaimo in 1997.  An engineer by training, Johann is currently the manager at the Business Development Bank of Canada. He is one of the founding members of the CVI Leadership Prayer Breakfast. In his spare time, he is President of International Widows & Orphans Fund, a Canadian Registered Charity that supports war orphans in Democratic Republic of Congo. He is past Chairman of Nanaimo Christian School where he served on the board for 14 years. Johann is married to Ronel and they have 2 adult children and one amazing grand daughter. 

Mark MacDonald

Mark MacDonald is the author of four books, including his latest about business: “It Worked For Them, It Will Work For Me: The 8 Secrets of Small Business I Learned From Successful Friends”.

Mark is also a former President of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce, and is well known for his community involvement and contributions. He owns and operates Communication Ink, a strategic public relations and social media company.

Mark is happily married to Lise, and they have raised five children. Together, they own and operate Invest Northwest Publishing Ltd., which publishes four Business Examiner newspapers throughout B.C.

Lise MacDonald

Lise MacDonald is co-owner of Invest Northwest Publishing Ltd., which publishes four Business Examiner newspapers throughout B.C. Lise has been involved in numerous associations and organizations, and has helped organize local events. She is currently serving on the Community Futures of Central Island marketing committee. Happily married to Mark, Lise homeschooled all five of their children to high school, and as of 2020, they will have earned university degrees.

Shanda Wright

Shanda was raised in Nanaimo.  She currently runs a construction company she founded in 2009 and works in Advertising at 102.3 The Wave, 106.9 the Wolf and Nanaimo News Now. She is currently serving as a committee member of CVI Leadership Prayer Breakfast, Community coordinator for the Benson Grind, Committee member for a women’s charity in India, and volunteers with the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce.  She is a past board member of the Young Professionals of Nanaimo, Business Networking International, and  works closely with International widows and Orphans Fund.  Shanda is single and has not been married, she is the oldest of 8 children and for fun -  loves to dance.
